Frequently Asked Questions

Egg Donor

Egg donation is the process by which a woman donates eggs to enable another woman to conceive as part of an assisted reproduction treatment.

The procedure typically involves a doctor removing an egg or eggs from the donor, fertilizing them in a laboratory, and then transferring the resulting embryos into the recipient’s uterus.

The eggs are retrieved through a non-invasive procedure (No cuts or stitches). You will be sedated, but the actual retrieval only takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
You can donate your egg multiple times but each donation cycle must be spaced with at least 3 months. Also, medical clearance will be required for each donation cycle

The egg donation process takes between 4-6 weeks. The screening appointment, psychological evaluation, and egg retrieval are the most lengthy part of the process.

We do not pay people to donate their eggs. However, we understand that the donation process can be stressful hence we offer a compensation fee of N120,000 for each donation cycle to cover for logistics.

NO. Every month during your natural cycle about 15 to 20 eggs begin to mature in follicles before you ovulate, but only one usually makes it all the way to ovulation: the rest are reabsorbed into the body and lost through menstruation.

In egg donation, the fertility medications simply ensure that most of those eggs do mature all the way, so we’re only retrieving the eggs your body would have disposed of anyway!

The eggs are retrieved through a non-invasive procedure (No cuts or stitches). You will be sedated, but the actual retrieval only takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Surrogates

Once you have completed the necessary paperwork and submitted your medical records to us for review, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a number of months to find a match for you. n experience that is both enriching and fulfilling.

Yes, you can. You will be presented with profiles of available intended parents from our surrogacy agency that meet your criteria and you will choose which individuals you would like to meet in person.

A fertilized embryo will be implanted in the surrogate’s uterus by a fertility doctor.

In gestational surrogacy, no. In traditional surrogacy, yes. The baby is biologically related to the two people who contribute the egg and sperm when the embryo is created, not whose uterus the baby is carried in. That means that if intended parents need the help of egg and/or sperm donors to create an embryo, the baby will be biologically related to the donor(s). If the egg and/or sperm come from the intended parents, then the baby is biologically related to them. Again, when it comes to genetics, what matters is the egg and sperm — the uterus doesn’t have anything to do with it.

At Conceptual Options, we offer a comprehensive benefits package for all surrogates. Surrogate compensation varies on the terms outlined in your agreement with the couple.

The family you match with will pay the fees outlined for you in your screening and agreed upon in the contract. If there are any additional unexpected costs, your intended parents will cover those costs.

They will also pay for all IVF medical procedures, expenses, co-payments, and deductibles related to your surrogate pregnancy.
